From My Bathtub, Mala Mala!!!!!
This bathtub - a huge old claw foot tub that I could have swam in (my grandma had one when my sister and I were kids and we both could bath in it!!!)was my saviour from the frenetic pace - saved my aching body every day!!! Notice the almost nude peeping Tom outside - had come from the OUTSIDE shower by the plunge pool - dirty old man!!! Notice on the tub rack there is a place to put a book - my kind of bath. View out the window was to the bushveld and I often watched animals while I bathed!!!
Mala Mala House, Safari
I started to post these pix of the place we stayed at Mala Mala a few days ago then got pulled away from finishing it - here are the rest of them1
A gret place for sure, but not sure it was worth the exorbitant fee we paid. The "digs" were amazing, but the daily schedule was waaaay too nectic with the safari drives twice a day. Tom and I both ended the trip sick!!!
Each couple was assigned their own ranger - he called you at 5:30 am for a 6am drive, off road, into the reeds, trees, a land rover that went anywhere it wanted!!! Allowed you to get up close and personal to animals, but was rough riding!!!
Back from first drive 9-9:30, breakfast, free time (usuallu passed out and slep!!) then lunch at 1:30 which lasted until about 2:30, free time for an hour, then a game drive at about 3:30 - 4pm, back by 7-7:30 (dark by 6, so good part of the land rover escapade was in darkness!!!!)dinner at 8:30, over by 9:30 - 10pm, back to house, tried to do blog - we always stayed up too late because we had had not time to ourselves all day.
The ranger sat with you at all meals and brought your beverages, asked what you wanted etc. Some people maight like that, but we eventually wanted to tell him to piss off so we could be alone!!!! He was 22, greqat looking dude, 6' 5", but obnoxious in that he was egotiscal know it all and waaaaaay too much testosterone - raised on a game preserve so was "the man" - way too impressed with himself, took waaay too many chances - like the day he got us stuck in a bog with lions around us!!!!!!!!
The whole experience at Mala Mala was interesting, sometimes exciting, but too fatiguing!!
Saw the Big 5 the first day and many rare things, but at a price - exhastion - I had to miss a couple of drives just to keep going.
Will post some of the animal pix next!!!
